Roasted Carrot Soup. Hot Soup. Cold Summer.

You see, there are many things wrong with the title of this post. First, I should be really writing about Gazpacho. Why? Well (and that’s my second point) I happen to live in that part of the globe where summer should rime with heat. Sun. Lovely afternoons spent in a park.
Not so! Today we have no more, no [...]

French Women. Les Poireaux.

Easter was cold and wet. And lots of fun. I am still sniffling a little bit, but on the way to recovery. Which means I can start smelling and tasting again. Joy!
I realize it is a little bit early in the year (and wrong hemisphere) to be talking about sun, beach and bikini. Then again, [...]

Leek and Potato Soup. And February.

Somehow January came and went. It’s already February. The good thing about this fast moving aspect? Days are getting longer, and longer. An extra minute of light there, another minute here. Not only does it mean my life improves in terms of waking up (!), but also there is that little chance that I could [...]

Tres French. Onion Soup.

[Glorious Food and Wine is currently on holiday in Brazil (yey!). This is a republication of a post originally published in February 2007]

I can not complain. This winter has been a lot milder than in the past years. Then again I do miss the snow and crisp cold. But Belgium rarely has that kind of [...]

Cucumber. Mint. Soup.

[Glorious Food and Wine is currently on holiday in Brazil (yey!). This is a republication of a post originally published in September 2006]

I am not a big fan of cucumbers. Odd, as they are mostly made out of water. Yet I never liked them too much. The only exception I make is when cucumbers are [...]

French Onion Soup

I can not complain. This winter has been a lot milder than in the past years. Then again I do miss the snow and crisp cold. But Belgium rarely has that kind of winter so life just goes on. As does cooking.Soups. I love soups. Cold, warm, heavy or not, there is a soup for [...]

Cucumber and Mint Soup

I am not a big fan of cucumbers. Odd, as they are mostly made out of water. Yet I never liked them too much. The only exception I make is when cucumbers are used in tzatzikis. Otherwise, me and cucumbers are not the best of friends. Thus I don’t blame you if you’ll wonder why [...]

Gazpacho … Ole!

Everyone I know loves Gazpacho. Everyone I know also has a different ‘personal’ Gazpacho recipe. Thus, not disappointing anyone, I came up with my own summer Gazpacho recipe. For those of you in the dark (although I doubt there is anyone left not knowing Gazpacho), Gazpacho is a cold tomato soup, hailing all the way [...]

Chestnuts anyone?

It is dry and sunny. But cold. The winter is now not far anymore. Soon plans will be made where to spend the winter holidays, and discussions evolve already around snow.
You can thus understand I haven’t left yet my soup making period. I will probably go through a lot of soup this year. My life [...]

Preparing for winter

For me fall is a preparation for winter. I start eating less salads, and more filling food, and soups take the stage. Variations on the soup theme are in order, and I try and test everything possible – basically focusing on what I have available in the fridge. And the joy of combination starts.
