An entry for Click.
Sundays are perfect. Let me rephrase that. Not only can I sleep in on Sundays (bliss!), but Sundays are also famous in Brussels for 2 things - markets and more markets. Some are food related, others are flea markets. I love both!
Despite this being a food blog and all, this time around I’ll go easy on the food-markets and tell you all about the Brussels flea markets. One of them at least. The one where I tend to source most of the props for this blog. Inexpensive? Check. Varied? Check. Ideal for a hobby blogger/foodie? Check. My kind of place! Read more »

Easter was cold and wet. And lots of fun. I am still sniffling a little bit, but on the way to recovery. Which means I can start smelling and tasting again. Joy!
I realize it is a little bit early in the year (and wrong hemisphere) to be talking about sun, beach and bikini. Then again, I am hoping for spring any day now. And sun. Which made me think about … French women and how they don’t get fat. Or something like that. Basically, we overate during Easter. Now it’s time to detox just a little, slow down on the calories and make some soup. Leek soup!

I am currently suffering from the most horrible, annoying, tiring cold ever. Which of course means I feel most terribly sorry for myself. I am surrounded by boxes of tissues, cups of tea, and I’m that close to breaking into tears overall feeling miserable. On top of it it’s snowing outside. Snowing! You know what day was yesterday? The first day of spring. That’s right. Spring. Not the first day when it should snow. Pfff.
Anyway … guess you got the picture. Me, sick, no fun! Read more »

Fact: there are not enough hours in a day, days in a week. It’s all a little hectic at the moment, with today being busier than yesterday, and less busy than tomorrow. You get the picture. All work and no fun.
Although we are currently making plans for Easter (Wales), a short weekend break to Nice (any suggestions?), another short weekend to Prague (again, any suggestions are welcome) and finally a longer well-deserved I might add, break to the Marche region. Why? Well, it is time Mark visits his tree. Then, of course, there is Bologna. But more to the point, anything you can suggest food/wine wise in this region will help us tons! It’s all new to us and I know you, as travelled food bloggers, will be a great source of inspiration. Read more »

As promised. Readers of this blog, you know how much I enjoy my food magazines. But a new year has started. So in with the new, out with the semi-old. So to speak.
Today it rained. A lot. Which means I finally got around to go through my pile of food magazines dating back to 2006 and 2007. Sorting through them, I found some great old recipe favorites, some great photography inspiration, and it all justifies the money spent! Or so I like to tell myself every year. Do you feel the same?
Back to this post: I now have on our living room floor a pile of German (Elle Bistro), English (Good Food) and Dutch (Elle Eten) magazines. Not entire yearly collections, but a few of this, a few of that. Interested? If you are, and live in Brussels, and don’t mind picking the magazines up - then drop me an email at andreeainbxl [at] hotmail [dot] com with ‘Magazines’ in the subject-line. And of course the language version you prefer. I am more than happy to give the magazines away and who knows, maybe you’ll find some last year inspiration as well?

Both a Very Belgian specialty. And my entry for this month’s Waiter There is Something in My …
Let me explain.
It has been a while since I last wrote on Belgian specialties. And it has been even longer since I last took part in a Waiter … event. Time to correct that. Time for a salad! It seems the winter months did not leave room for salads across the channel either, so Andrew challenged us all to think in terms of seazonal salads. Seazonal inspiration! Read more »
